Me with Raul Rubio

Raul making his model in Lladro
On 6th May, the young and famous  Valencia-based Spanish sculptor Raul Rubio came at Lladro showroom, South City mall, Kolkata. I was invited to interpret him through the whole day. The whole Lladro team, me and the audience enjoyed his company, as he spoke about his childhood days which seeded in his mind to be a sculptor like his famous father. In the first session, the journalists from several English dailies took his interview & I had to do all interpretation works, from Bengali & English to Spanish and the vice-verse. There he told several times why and how he was inspired to create Indian mythological characters like Ganesha, Rama-Sita-Lakshmana-Hunumana. In the second session after lunch, he gave a live demonstration of Ganesha with Vina which got an encouraging applauds from audience.

He asked me lot of things about Indian cultures. When we talked freely during lunch and dinner together, I found him interested in Football, Movies of Pedro Almodovar and Indian & Flamenco dances. Also he is a cartoonist who use to make cartoons for children.
A memorable evening for the Kolkata audience and me too.

Spanish-Bengali Connection

It's my great honour to be a part of a renowned Argentinian literary magazine Lak-berna as a poet. On 10th January, they published their 10th edition where they published my own Bengali poems with the Spanish translations(the translation was also done by me). I felt honoured to see my poems with Spanish authors and poets like Santiago Ocampos, Anne-Marie Labra Muniz. The site address is :

AS A Spanish Guide

Me with Maria & Cecilia
At Mother House
This is second time on 18th January, 2012 I worked as a Spanish Guide in Kolkata with two Argentinian ladies who have fond of Indian cultures ( foods, dresses, literature- specially Tagore's poems). We discussed all about Argentinian musics and the influence of Indian music in their music genres. They visited the main tourist spots like Victoria Memorial Hall, Saint Paul's Cathedral, Mother Teresa House, including Coffee House and College Street Book shops which gave them a great pleasure to see the Asia's biggest book market in Kolkata. They were impressed by the warmth of Kolkatans.  It's always good opportunity to work with the Spanish speakers not from Spain, but from Latin America, whose pronunciation and culture differ much from Spain.

This is second time in Lucknow where I worked in same venue ( CMS ) in 12 th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World as Spanish interpreter. The conference was held from 9th-13th December, 2011 where the Chief Justices from Peru, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Benin, Burkina Faso etc participated in the conference and gave their valuable speeches on 51C article and the application of child's security laws in their own countries. They gave interview in local TV channels, even participated in interactive sessions with the school kids. So I had to do ample task with them. I did interpretation during TV interviews, simultaneous interpretation in the box and read their speech in English to students and other guests. Even, I worked on the first day as the French interpreter also for Benin's guests as the number of French interpreters was less than they required. This is a lifetime experience u to my career.

It's a great experience to make different type of learning methods for these students. This school provides language translation and even interpretation through which I'm enhancing my experience.

As French Interpreter with French Traders

April 2011 was a memorable experience for me while I worked with two French business personalities Monsieur Jacques COSTES and Monsieur Bernard VARCIN ( he is also the veteran world cycle champion) on 18th and 19th April. These two were keen to be enhanced with the Indian culture and customs. They concentrated more on tasting our foods, our remote & famous places than to talk about the business. Obviously, they were happy with the quality of Indian products what they told every time. But, they were really surprised and glad to see the politeness and warmth of Kolkatans. They are expected to come back in the next year's winter.
On my part, I would like to say that I learnt a lot from them, specially on business. This French warmth is unforgettable.
